These are analyses of a particular place or set of places. These studies should be focused on climate or enivironmental vulnerability as related to climate geography and the characteristics of the people and places within exposed areas. These studies could be sectoral (i.e. water infrastructure) or cross-cutting (i.e. poverty, development, general vulnerability).
The EU funded Healthy Futures project (www.healthyfutures.eu ) investigated the possible impact of climate change projections on transmission of schistosomiasis, rift-valley fever and malaria in East Africa. The project consisted of combining newly developed mathematical models of the lifecycles of climate-sensitive life stages of the infections and their vectors with down-scaled climate-change projections (based on RCP scenarios) and indices of population vulnerability to generate new risk maps of transmission.
